The Heart - Film Title

The Heart - Film Title + Credits

Film title design as well as rolling credit animation for this short film created by a student at Toronto Film School.

Colour
The use of pink brings a slightly unsettling and over-organized feeling to the piece, as if LAKMA chose it themselves to not only represent The Heart, but as an
attempt of emoting the feeling of ‘fun’, ‘love’ and ‘happy’. The darker pink allows for contrast and also ties back to love, but has an undertone that is meant to remind you of the unsettling colour of blood. It is used to subtly hint to dystopia, where something may not be as it appears and there is something to hide. This plays to the genre of Drama and Dystopian.

Collage
A nostalgic past time turned archival elements– the collage like cut up photos and scrapbook movement of the elements capture a vintage perspective.

Halftone
A nod to retro times, halftone was used to represent a traditional aspect to the film and to convey a sense of ‘traditional times’ and match with the time period.

Glitch
Glitches, warps and flickers are used throughout to demonstrate that something is off, something is wrong. It nods to the house glitching or switching, while relating back to the old school TV in the film. The gives a sense of unease and deception, while attributing to the Sci-Fi genre.

Film Title
While the curves and serifs of the Roca font of “Heart” are straight from a older era, the font Barlow Condensed used for the word “the” provide boldness and minimalism from a new, maybe even futuristic age. A blend of slightly retro and sans serif modernism play to the traditional yet dystopian
attributes to the film. Another unity of disguise vs reality.
